With Gunnison/Crested Butte Regional Airport 31 miles away, getting to Crested Butte is quite convenient. The airport services Dallas, Houston, Chicago and Denver via American Airlines and United Airlines. Flying into Denver International Airport (DEN) tends is sometimes cheaper, but ground transportation to Crested Butte from DEN tends to be more expensive and sometimes cumbersome, especially in in climate weather. Ski.com recommends flying into Gunnison/Crested Butte Regional airport, especially if convenience and getting on the resort’s famed slopes are high on your list.
From the airport, head north on 11th Street toward West Rio Grande Avenue, turn right onto Tomichi Avenue. Then turn left onto CO-135 North/North Main Street. Continue on CO-135 North for about 27 miles. The road will turn into 6th Street, continue driving. It will soon after turn into CO Road 317/Gothic Road, continue driving. After about two miles, turn right onto Snowmass Road. Crested Butte Mountain Resort will be on your left.
