Breckenridge Intermediate Skiing

Breckenridge is one of the most popular ski resorts in Colorado due in large part to the seemingly endless amount of groomed trails. Each one of the resort’s four peaks are lined with beautifully groomed runs that make the Breckenridge intermediate skiing world-class, and keeps blue trail skiers returning year after year. Breckenridge intermediate skiing terrain can feel as if it goes on and on for miles. And in actuality, it does on Four O’Clock trail. Every year, SKI Magazine ranks Breckenridge in its top 10 resorts in North America because “the skiing in Breck rocks.” Plus, Breckenridge terrain, in general, isn’t considered to be very steep, so intermediates that enjoy meandering down long, gentle slopes will be pleased.

Breckenridge Intermediate Terrain

Four O’Clock is the longest Breckenridge groomer, perfect for making wide, fun turns. Starting at the top of Peak 8 and winding three and a half miles all the way to Park Avenue in downtown Breckenridge (if you want to ski it top to bottom), Four O’Clock is one of the longest sustained groomed runs you’ll ever come across. Crescendo on Peak 8, and Briar Rose and Upper Lehman on Peak 9 are a few other can’t-miss intermediate runs.

The trails off of Peak 7 are an intermediate skier’s dream. Claimjumper is groomed to perfection every morning and Northstar is also a notable cruiser. Both trials, like most Breckenridge intermediate runs on Peak 7, aren’t packed with visitors and feel like your own slice of groomed, blue square heaven.

Breckenridge Mountain Tours

Ski with a local National Forest volunteer ranger and learn about Breckenridge’s natural, high alpine environment, wildlife and resources. The tour meets at Peak 7, lasts one hour and is held every Friday. This tour is not only educational, but will also help “first-time” Breckenridge visitors better acclimate with the mountain’s terrain and navigation.
